Story

An animated fantasy film about a summer full of wonders, where an 11-year-old girl who has lost her father forges a joyful friendship with a trio of bizarre goblins.

11-year-old Momo lost her father in an accident without reconciling after saying harsh things to him. Now it’s time to move to the old family house on a remote island where time has stopped: old wooden buildings, holy shrines, terraced fields... and no shopping mall. As her mother soon starts working, Momo spends her time lazing around, unable to adjust to her new life and the people around her. She still feels uneasy about an unfinished letter her father left behind. A letter with only two words: "Dear Momo." Then one day, Momo meets a trio of goblins that seem to have just popped out from an old folktale... Though at first intimidated by their bizarre appearance, Momo gradually grows close to the greedy but lovable creatures. With uniquely Japanese soft colors that create an idyllic warmth, the film realistically depicts the emotional turmoil of a young girl: the pain of losing her father, the confusion of changing environments, and the loneliness of her mother's absence. Don't miss the goblins' quirky dance. You may end up performing it yourself before you know it!
