Story
Casting a spell of her own, KADONO Eiko, celebrated children’s author of “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, shares the life experiences that helped bring her magical stories to life.
KADONO Eiko is best known as the author of “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, which was made into an animated film by MIYAZAKI Hayao. This documentary closely follows the writer over the course of four years, revealing her experience of war at the age of 5, moving to Brazil at 24, and making her debut as a writer at 34. Now she is surrounded by "strawberry-colored" walls and bookshelves of her own choosing, her trademark is her colorful fashion and unique glasses. The film reveals the secrets behind her vivid characters and magical stories — a creative journey she shows no sign of ending anytime soon.
