This video presents a sumi‑e demonstration by KOBAYASHI Tohun. KOBAYASHI served as the art supervisor for the film “The Lines that Define Me,” providing guidance on its sumi‑e elements.

KOBAYASHI Tohun
Tohun Kobayashi, born in Tokyo in 1961, learned calligraphy from his mother. After presenting wall paintings at the "Japanese Fine Arts Exhibition" in Paris in 1987, he drew wall paintings in Indonesia, the United States, China, and Russia, earning high acclaim in these countries. During this period, he received numerous awards in Japan and overseas.
He also appeared on television and published an extensive body of work, thereby further advancing the recognition and dissemination of sumi‑e through his diverse activities. In 2022, he served as the art supervisor for the film “The Lines that Define Me,” providing guidance on its sumi‑e elements.
