Story
The tale of a boy and a man made of garbage, determined to prove that a world exists beyond the smoke-filled sky.
This animated fantasy adventure about self-belief and curiosity tells the story of Lubicchi and the townsfolk of Chimney Town constantly clocked in a dreary blanket of smoke. The young Lubicchi lives for stories of high adventure told to him by his father Bruno, who mysteriously disappeared years ago. Bruno would tell anyone willing to listen that the smoke that covers the sky and the town in a blanket of black soot holds a secret of its very own. Smoke stacks obscure the skyline while bands of Inquisitors patrol the streets below, threatening to ‘disappear’ anyone hoping to catch sight of a single star. Now Lubicchi and his ailing mother live alongside the other chimney sweeps in town, until the mysterious figure of a man made of garbage turns up unannounced on Halloween, turning the lives of everyone in Chimney Town upside down. Christening their unexpected guest Poupelle, after one of his father’s picture cards, the two new friends embark on a quest to prove everyone wrong and show that life really does exist outside the smoke where the night sky is filled with stars and the promise of a brighter future.
